PROJECTS

Red Raider Startup and iLaunch

September 2022, I decided to try something a little outside my comfort zone. I headed to the Innovation Hub at Research Park. I attended an entrepreneurship competition where I brought an original idea and led a team in drawing out business canvases, creating prototypes, and pitching to judges.

My product was ‘Book Buddy’, an all-in-one annotation kit that straps onto whatever book you are physically reading and provides tools that help you better comprehend the text. My team ended up taking Second place out of 40 original ideas!

As a team, we decided to continue onto the next competition, iLaunch, and worked for almost a month on our application. Being accepted into such a prestigious competition was amazing and winning the People’s Choice award was the cherry on the sundae!

NSF I-Corps Participant

Spring of 2023, I applied to work in the National Science Foundation I-Corps program. It was a 6 week long program where we learned about customer discovery for an original idea that had the potential to move on to commercialization.

My idea for this was Handy Mandy: a platform that teaches young women transitioning to adulthood basic life skills. This would include car maintenance, taxes and loan systems, and home maintenance.

We interviewed over 25 people and presented our findings to a panel of mentors who gave us feedback and direction on our idea.

This program was virtual, as many participants were located in various parts of the South West!

East Lubbock Arthouse Social Media

During my senior year at Texas Tech, I took a Market Research class. We had a semester long project where we worked for a local non-profit: the East Lubbock Arthouse (ELAH).

Our objective was to increase turn out for East Lubbock Art House events with social media. For this project, we created surveys to understand the locals of Lubbock a bit better. My market research class was focused on curating questions whose answers could be translated to meaning data.

Utilizing the program JASP, we analyzed desirability/willingness to volunteer and donate. We also ran chi-square tests on the demographics of survey respondents. Using this data, we then made a social media plan for East Lubbock Arthouse.

My team’s pitch to our client can be found here:

YWCA Semester Project

In my Integrated Marketing Communications Course during the 2020 Fall semester, we have worked for months creating a marketing plan for the YWCA. The YWCA is a nonprofit organization in Lubbock that focuses on eliminating racism and empowering women.

Our group’s focus was on print ads. This was a daunting task because digital marketing has overtaken print. However, I think we were successful in coming up with great solutions.

Below are a few of the presentations we made! They include situational analysis, objectives and budgets, and execution and evaluation.

Tech Student Democrats

Taking on Marketing and Public Relations in this organization was a hefty task because historically, there has been a lack of presence on the Texas Tech campus. Further, I knew while I would enjoy working on something I was so passionate about, it would be difficult to complete tasks up to my standards.

So far, I’ve had to completely start fresh on social media. Using knowledge from my courses, I’ve begun to strategize a full marketing plan in order to achieve new members and speak to outside organizations around the Lubbock community.

Miller Girls PR Committee

Miller Girls is a community service sorority that I was apart of from 2020-2021. As a member of the PR committee for the Miller Girls, I gained insight into creating content for social media and speaking with outside organizations in Lubbock about community service.
